A partnership between Dr. Jing Williams,
University of South Dakota's School of Education,
and the Veterans of Foriegn Wars Post 3061

What is "Project 360"?

The name, "Project 360", comes from the course I teach at the University of South Dakota, ELED 360: K-8 Social Science Methods. Since the fall of 2016, I have incorporated community-based projects in this course, which teach future elementary school social studies teachers how to integrate arts with social studies and how to relate soical studies education to the local community.  Students create artwork to express their appreciation for veterans. Their artwork is silent auctioned during the exhibition, and all proceeds go to the VFW post 3061 to aid its goals, including supporting education and disabled veterans.

Why "Project 360"?

Project 360 is designed to enlighten future elementary social studies teachers how to teach about wars from a human perspective, teach them how to integrate arts with social studies, increase their awareness of veterans' sacrifices to this country, and foster a strong and positive relationship between the University of South Dakota and the local community.
