Toastmasters International

I enjoy public speaking and constantly practice to refine my oratory skills. I am a member at the USD-Area Yappin' Yotes Toastmasters Club 5042390. Right now, I am striving to improve my impromptu speeches!

The supportive and positive learning experience at Toastmasters empowers me to practice my communication and leadership skills with a bold confidence, and enables me to be a better communicator and a more effective educator!

Traveling

Since I was 25 years old, I've always been "on the road". Traveling broadens my appreciation for all the little things that make us and our cultures unique, and makes me confident and knowledgeable. I enjoy seeing all kinds of sceneries, talking to people who are different from me, emerging myself in various cultural settings, and tasting all sorts of good food! I've been to 40+ states, and my goal is to cover all 50 states. I hope one day I can leave my footprint on the great continent of Africa!

Travel also helps me build my professional career. Whenever I go, I'd always visit museums, historical sites, and universities, where I build connections and get lots of teaching ideas!

Playing Gamelan

In my youth, I always wished I could play a musical instrument and someday be in a band. In 2014, I learned how to play gamelan and joined a gamelan band at the National Music Museum, in Vermillion, South Dakota! Gamelan is a term used for various ensembles in Indonesia. In a way, the gamelan is a microcosm of traditional Indonesian society. Click here to see our concert.
